Today, almost two centuries later Opatija is still at the top when it comes to wellness, romance, beautiful scenery and gardens. Here you can visit the Museum of Croatian tourism as well as the reopened "American gardens" - a terraced set of gardens accessed by walkways and elaborate stone stairways that run through some 8000 square metres.
Opatija is famous for its 12 km long seaside promenade, but when it comes to beaches, your first choice should be Mošćenička Draga and Medveja.
The Kvarner Gulf
Unlike west coast, eastern part is rather more intact, wild and captivating. Here you will also find windsurfing and snorkelling very much alluring, especially on some of the islands like Cres which is only a short ferry ride away from Istria. The Kvarner Gulf or Bay is notable for its depth which allows Rijeka to accommodate Capesize ships today, and our guests to enjoy intact diving sites, witnesses of the past.
